Snowball Y ImprovedSnowball Y Improved is a productive and reliable cauliflower variety that does not require tying! Cabbage has smooth white heads up to 7 "in diameter. They can be used for autumn and winter harvest, as well as fresh and frozen. This unique variety covers its edible head with long wrapping leaves to better protect itself from the sun, does not require blanching.
Cultivating: Sow seeds 1/2" deep 8-12 weeks before the last expected frost. Harden your plants by exposing the seedlings to the weather for several hours each day. Plant the seedlings outdoors 2 weeks before the last expected spring frost. The optimum temperature for growth is 57-68 degrees F (14-20 C) with 15-18 ″ spacing. Plant in mid-summer for fall harvest. Harvest: Harvest the Cauliflower while the tiny buds are still firm. Adult heads will reach 6 to 12 inches in size. Cut them off at the base of the head, along with a few leaves Uses: cauliflower can be consumed raw or cooked. Use cauliflower as soon as possible after harvest. Cauliflower florets may also be blanched and frozen. Cauliflower may also be pickled. Seed Saving: dig up the cauliflower before the first heavy frost; store the plants in sand or sawdust over winter, and plant them again in the spring. Gathering seeds from about six plants preserves the best genetic diversity. In the spring, allow the plant to flower; when the pods on the stalk grow brown and dry, cut them off and allow them to fully dry. Remove seeds from the pods, then store seeds in a cool, dry place for up to five years. Notes:
