Swiss Giant'The Swiss Giant Pansy is an annual plant with edible vibrant flowers with a wide range of colors. Worthy of a Swiss window box, these impressive blooms come in a brilliant array of color. This compact plant is technically a perennial but is often grown as an annual. The flowers are edible and can be used as garnishes, or in salads.
Harvesting: For cut flowers, choose stems with flowers that have just opened. Strip the foliage that will fall below the water level, and place in water immediately. Seed Saving: After the flowers fade, oval pods will begin to develop. When ripe, each pod will split open into three sections that hold the ripe seeds. Remove the seeds. Since they lose their viability quickly, planting immediately will result in the best germination. If storing is necessary, keep the Swiss giant pansy seeds in the refrigerator until planting. Notes:

CategoriesFDL Seed Library
The FDL Seed Library is a collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds that you can borrow to plant and grow at home. By saving seeds as a community we help create local seed stocks that are better acclimated to our climate and which support an abundant and genetically diverse landscape.
We ask that seeds are “returned” by harvesting seeds from a plant or two that you grow. Donated seeds will help to add diversity to our collection. Archives
